My story begins with

Why?

Like an archaeologist, patiently uncovering dinosaur fossils with a brush, I have always searched for the bare bones. As a kid, I’d often get caught tucked away on the stairs when I was supposed to be in bed because I liked listening to the adult chatter.

My constant search for deeper meaning in everything caused me to become remarkably anxious in high school, so I put all my nervous energy into achievement. Looking back, I think all the unanswerable questions of “why” manifested in that way.

I earned endless labels such as valedictorian, treasurer, varsity runner… I even ran a marathon in under four hours 16 years old - the morning after prom. Most importantly, I founded and presided over the Yoga Club, which became the catalyst for a seemingly far-fetched dream.

There must be more to life

Like many, I sought yoga to yield a state of balance. It started as a physical practice and has since transpired into my lifestyle.

Yoga found me in many situations throughout college. I practiced when I felt inclined until COVID hit. I had enough credits to graduate in three years, so I took the year off to work and got my yoga certification. This training and daily meditation changed my life forever.

Yoga taught me mindfulness - the alchemy that cured my anxiety indefinitely. Yoga watered a seed inside of me, which grew into presence and contentment. It answered my question: Why are we all doing this human thing? Why are we always chasing what’s next and still not satisfied?

The concrete jungle

One thing led to another. I taught for two years in Boulder, Colorado at a mixture of a co-founded online studio, CorePower Yoga, and the University of Colorado Recreational Center. During my time, I also wrote for CO Yoga + Life magazine. I then graduated as a Dean’s Scholar with a B.A. in Journalism and a triple minor in Geography, Sociology, and Business. Everyone asked what I would do with my degree…

The city of dreams, New York City, called my name. I began working at a Fortune 300 company as a District Manager and was promoted in under a year. Everything seemed to be cooking along alright.

A new beginning in the real jungle

Still, I kept asking why. Why am I doing what I’m doing? What is the bigger purpose here?

I couldn’t answer that. It wasn’t long till I decided to enroll at Vikasa in Koh Samui, Thailand to pursue the dream I’d had since I was sixteen. I wanted to get my RYT-500 and teach worldwide on a quest to master yoga embodiment.

living my why

Yoga is my why.

I will always be inherently curious about the whys of life, but it doesn’t eat at me anymore.

Life is yoga and yoga is life. Every class is an expression of your state. Yoga meets you where you are and accepts you exactly as you are. This process elicits an acceptance in yourself, so you can quiet your mind to find inner peace and contentment in various situations. Once you find presence, the anxiety of the unknown dissipates.

Yoga caused peace and EVOLution in me. What will it do for you?
